The Central Vermont Community Action Council recently held a screening of Mother Nature’s Child for the group of teen mothers who created the mural pictured here. The staff coordinator who arranged the screening wrote: “They loved that the film offers positive solutions. One mother shared that she is limiting her little girl to less than an hour of TV a week and that they are going outside more. Another expressed her desire to settle down in a rural town because of what it can offer her child growing up. We talked a lot about parents possessing the power to change things for their own families despite the culture we are growing up in. I think they feel proud that they are breaking out of the current mold.” It’s great to hear about these new young mothers finding ways to make time in nature a priority for their kids.
